  • February 18, 2019 Dear GES Families:This past week was a busy one for our learners. We celebrated our 100th day of learning on Tuesday and had our first blizzard bag day on Wednesday. Thank you so much for your support in completing and returning the work in the blizzard bag folders.  On Friday, most classrooms were able to tap their classroom’s maple tree. The temperature did not cooperate with us, therefore no sap was flowing out of the tree. We need temperatures above 32 degrees during the day and below 32 degrees at night.  As I explained to our learners, this week doesn’t look good for sap flow either, however, over February break we should see some sap filling the ...

  • February 11, 2019 Dear GES Families:I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Here are some important reminders and events happening this week.Thank you to all the families that contributed to our food drive for the 100th day of school (Feb. 12th). We will be delivering well over 500 items to Gilford Got Lunch.The PTA will be meeting in the library at 3:30PM on Tuesday, February 12th.This Wednesday is an early release day. We will dismiss all learners at 1:00PM.The Volunteer Steering Committee has been busying planning the Family Fun Night being held on February 21st from 5:30-7:30pm.  We will be bringing our One School, One Book to life!   • February 4, 2019 Dear GES Families:It looks like we will be getting an early spring according to Punxsutawney Phil. I, for one, am ready for warmer temperatures.  Physical Education Teacher, Lisa Osborne is organizing the annual Heart Health Challenge for February.This is a fun and exciting event where our children learn about their heart while helping others to raise money for the American Heart Association. Our learners will have fun, learn how to stay healthy and make a difference in the lives of others!  Our Heart Challenge event will be held the Friday before February vacation. Kids Heart Challenge envelopes were handed out on Friday. The teachers are sending the envelopes home either last Friday or Monday this week.Things for ...

  • January 24, 2019 Dear GES Families:This week your child brought home our One School book, Confessions of An Imaginary Friend by Michelle Cuevas. With all of these snow delays and school cancellations, I hope you had some extra family time to read together.  Each week there will be comprehension questions. We will send home the next set of questions on Monday. If you would like to read ahead over the long weekend, please read Chapters 13 - 24.  We have a family fun night planned for February 21st from 5:30 to 7:30pm.   • January 21, 2019 Dear GES Families:I hope you are staying warm today!  As a reminder, please send in winter clothes for your child every day. The health office is running out of winter coats, hats, mittens for children to borrow.McDonald’s in Laconia will be holding an arthritis fundraiser and educator celebration on January 21st from 5pm-7pm during which 20% of all proceeds will be donated to the Arthritis Foundation. Yes, that's right, tonight!  As McDonald’s is a sponsor of the Excellence in Education Awards, Mr. Johnston has invited representatives from the area schools who have won EDies in the past few years.
