Dear GES Families:

We are off to a great start!  It was wonderful to welcome over 335 learners to school this past week. I observed so many smiling faces and the excitement in classrooms was contagious. This month’s Panda Challenge is to hike 2 trails and do some push-ups every other day. I am not sure about the push-ups, but I did enjoy some hiking. I hope you were able to enjoy our beautiful area with family and friends.

Upcoming events:

GHS Interact and National Honor Society are organizing a supply drive to send to Texas. Please check out the much needed supply list on the attached flyer. Donations are due by Thursday, September 7th.

Thanks to many of you that had fingerprints done during our open house. If you still need your fingerprints completed, please call the SAU for an appointment. If you plan to volunteer in the school in any capacity this year, it is mandatory that you attend a Volunteer Orientation meeting.  There will be a Volunteer Orientation meeting held at GES in the cafeteria/multi-purpose room on TUESDAY,  SEPT 12th @ 2:30.  If you are unable to attend this orientation, another will be offered through the PTA during an evening time slot.

As a reminder, we have our first early release on September 20th. All learners will be dismissed at 1:00pm. Please plan accordingly.

There will be an district wide outdoor movie night on Friday, September 29th on the village green. The PTA will be showing, The Lego Batman Movie. This is a free event! Bring a lawn chair or a blanket.

I wanted to remind parents not to pack any glass in your child’s backpack. We had an incident this week of a broken glass picture frame.  No one was hurt, but it made us aware that we need to be careful about what we put into backpacks. Safety first!

Please be sure to label all of your children's clothing.  This will help us return items to the rightful owners. We have already started collecting lost and found items.

I wanted to share this image I saw as I walked through a classroom this week. Fair isn’t everyone getting the same thing. Fair is everyone getting what they need in order to be successful.Looking forward to a great year.

Danielle Bolduc, GES Principal
