Dear GES Families:

I hope you all enjoyed your Memorial Day and honored the men and women that served our country in your own special way.

We had a wonderful week here at GES. We celebrated Memorial Day with the kindergarten classes learning about Memorial Day on Monday when they had a visit from Sargent Thurston and Col. Heilshorne who serve with the National Guard. They showed us tools the soldiers use and helped us run obstacle courses. We want to thank them for coming and sharing their time and talent with us. On Friday afternoon, the first grade through fourth grade sang patriotic songs in front of our flag pole and Mrs. Peter’s third graders reminded us all about the reason we celebrate Memorial Day.

Also this past week, chicks were born in Ms. Jenkin’s class. We served over 100 hot dogs during the book fair cookout. We also heard from our amazing poets during the PTA Poetry celebration night and our fourth graders shared their tradesman research this past Friday with our school community.
