Dear GES Families:

This has been a very challenging week for our school community with the passing of Jane Avery, one of our paraprofessionals. I want to thank the entire staff for providing a supportive structure for our learners during this difficult time. I also want to thank all the families that sent their condolences. Please know that we are here for your child if they need any support.

This past Wednesday we were able to boil our first batch of maple syrup in our very own sugar shack.  The children all enjoyed a taste of their own syrup in class on Thursday. We are so fortunate to have this opportunity.  We will host our very own pancake breakfast on April 6th from 8-10am. (See attached flyer for details)

March Nutrition month has been great fun for our learners. Each Friday they have guessed the secret ingredient in a sample food. A huge thank you to our food service department that prepared all the food samples and volunteers that helped Nurse Jenn serve all the children. This week’s mac and cheese was interesting and quite the challenge for them to think about the hidden ingredient.  1st and 2nd grade had a tie with the most guesses being chickpeas and lentils. This Friday there will be two stations at recess set up for the kids to participate in some exercise enjoyment!   There will be Nutrition Themed exercises for them to do and then they can receive a colorful bracelet to remind them to eat many colorful fruits and veggies to get the most vitamins they can into their diet. Dr. Bilodeau has written a blog post about exercise and the effects on behavior. (See attached)

This Friday we will host another amazing showcase at 1:45pm.

Important Information:
