Dear GES Families:

This Saturday we were honored at the NH Education Awards ceremony as the Elementary School of Excellence. The requirements for candidates to be considered for the School of Excellence include:

  • The curriculum and instructional practices are presented in a rigorous, relevant and engaging learning environment.

  • The school organizes community members, ensuring they all have a role in building the school’s climate and culture.

  • The school’s vision, mission and goals are clearly articulated, well communicated and guide practice.

  • The school has an effective system for utilizing data and information that supports personalization.

  • There is a culture of empowerment among students, staff, teachers, administration, and community.

Come by and check out the banner, school bell and plaque the school received and the $2,000 check!

The Gilford Gauntlet event this past Wednesday was a huge success!  Thank you parents for volunteering and thanks to the Gilford High School students that came over and helped our learners run through the course.  It certainly takes a village.

  • As the year comes to a close, please remember to pay any negative balances on your child’s lunch account.

  • Forget to order a 2018 GES yearbook?  There's still time to order one and have it shipped to your home.  Get started here: Passcode:  101504197550190

  • We are looking for after school enrichment ideas for next year. (Check out the attachment)

This week’s events:

Monday - 4th grade Finale at 6:00PM

Tuesday - PTA Meeting, 6:30PM

Friday - Field trips to Whales Tales(3rd) and New Castle Commons (K)

Summer Learning Opportunities:

“Summer Slide”is metaphor that refers to the amount of reading, writing, and math knowledge that children lose over the summer because they are not actively practicing these skills. At the end of the school year, kids have attained their highest learning point. But without regular practice of these skills, they will slide back down.  Children can lose their academics if they aren’t practicing skills. Make this summer fun with learning! Read with your child everyday. Read books or even street signs, menus, amusement park maps! Every word counts.

The Summer Math Academy brochure/registration form is available on the GES website for parents of current grade 4 - 6. Check out this great opportunity!

Enjoy your week!

Danielle Bolduc, GES Principal
