Notification from: Gilford Elementary School

Dear GES Families:

We had a wonderful week with many celebrations of learning.  Second grade learners shared their opinion writing with their families, third grade learners shared their research on famous people during their wax museum, and fourth graders shared their colonial trades project and to top off the week, our learners collected over $9,000 for the American Heart Association.  That's an all-time record for Jump Rope for Heart.

When we come back from vacation we will be celebrating Read Across America (March 5th - 9th) in different ways.  We will have a special Dr. Seuss lunch on Monday (3/5 ) which will include sliced ham, a hard boiled egg, and a small skewer of cheese and cherry tomato.

Also, National Nutrition Month® is coming up in March. The campaign focuses attention on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits. The theme for 2018  is "Go Further with Food". Nurse Jenn with help from our Volunteer Steering Committee will be educating us during lunches every Friday in March. The first week we are focusing on composting and educating on food waste.

I hope you enjoy your winter break! Remember to keep reading and enjoy time with your family.
